Boudoir photography is changing you guys!!! Do you know how excited this makes me?? As a Toronto-based photographer I have primarily worked in the wedding industry and found my way into boudoir somewhat by accident. I avoided shooting intimate portraits for the longest time because let’s face it – they were SO CHEESY! No offence to anyone who loves a really glammed-up style of boudoir but it’s just not me. I’m more concerned with the woman behind all the hair/makeup/lingerie. Who is she? Where is she at in her journey? What makes her laugh, what makes her pensive, what makes her tick? I believe that boudoir is heading into a really amazing place. Women are taking charge of who they are and maybe being a little more selfish with who their boudoir session is really for – I think that’s pretty amazing.
Being open and honest isn’t easy (especially in front of the camera) but it can be crazy-empowering. In the words of late fellow badass-babe Carrie Fisher “Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.”
